We're excited to introduce a new integration that empowers your custom chatbot to communicate directly with customers through your Instagram account. This update automates responses while allowing seamless human takeover for a perfect balance of efficiency and a personal touch.

What's New

  • Direct Instagram Communication:

    • Connect your Business/Creator Instagram account with Chat Data to manage inquiries and deliver automated responses.
    • Enjoy flexible engagement—your chatbot handles routine questions, but you can step in any time for a personal response.
  • Step-by-Step Integration Process:

    • Prerequisites:
      • An Instagram Professional Account.
      • A Facebook Page connected to your Instagram account.
    • Integration Steps:
      1. Go to Dashboard > [Chatbot] > Integrations and select the Instagram integration card.
      2. Click the Connect button in the pop-up window.
      3. Sign in with your Facebook account and click Continue.
      4. Agree to connect your Instagram account with Chat Data, then enter your Instagram username and password, and click Get started.
      5. Choose the Facebook Page you want to link with your Instagram account.
      6. Review the selected Facebook Page and Instagram account (ensure the Allow access to messages option is checked) and click Next.
      7. If it's your first time connecting, you might need to repeat the login process to properly add your Instagram account.
      8. Click Continue for the final permissions review, then hit Save to complete the integration.
    • Once complete, your chatbot is ready to respond to all messages received through Instagram.
  • Testing & Verification:

    • Scan the provided QR code (using a different Instagram account) to test messaging with your Instagram bot.
    • Alternatively, use the INBOX link to access your Facebook Business Suite Instagram inbox and directly manage customer interactions.
  • Manual Access Token Renewal:

    • The Instagram integration requires manual renewal of the access token every 60 days.
    • A notification email will be sent 10 days before the token expires. Renew it manually to extend its validity for another 60 days.
  • Enhanced Live Chat Handover:

    • Use the INBOX link or Chat Logs Dashboard to switch from AI-driven responses to direct human intervention.
    • When taking over a conversation, turn off the AI chatbot to ensure only your human response is sent.
    • If a customer replies while you're offline, you'll receive an email notification with a link to the chat portal.
  • Automatic AI Chatbot Pause:

    • Configure an automatic pause (up to 1 week) during the integration setup. During this pause, customer messages bypass the AI and are sent directly to you with email notifications.
    • Note: This feature works exclusively with Chat Data's native live chat interface—not with Facebook's Business Platform.
  • INBOX vs. Live Chat Dashboard:

    • INBOX (Facebook Interface):
      Messages sent while the AI is off won't be captured by Chat Data, and no offline email notifications are sent.
    • Live Chat Dashboard (Chat Data Interface):
      Provides offline email notifications to ensure you never miss a customer message.
